Sabrina Darnall

Sabrina Darnall is a dancer, choreographer, and artist from Plymouth, Michigan. Sabrina began her formal dance training with Tamara Smola at Central City Dance Center in Canton, Michigan. After more than a decade of training in Canton, Sabrina continued to higher dance education at Western Michigan University. In May 2024, Sabrina graduated magna cum laude from WMU achieving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. While attending the university, Sabrina had the opportunity to perform works by Jae Man Joo, Tsai His Hung, Kimberly Cooper, Jared Baker, Penny Saunders, Seyong Kim, Monique Haley, Carolyn Pavlik, Kelsey Paschich, and Jeremy Blair. Sabrina also served as a touring company member of Western Dance Project (2021-2022) under the direction of Kelsey Paschich. Between 2020-2024, Sabrina also had many opportunities to perform in dance festivals as a featured dancer in Seyong Kim’s work, A Poem Written at the Cross. Sabrina danced in MADCO’s Dare to Dance Festival (MO), Grand Rapids Ballet Summer Dance Festival (MI), Roxey Ballet’s River Dance Festival (PA), Xing Dance Theater’s City Dance Festival (D.C.), The American Dance Guild Festival (NY), Palm Desert Choreography Festival (CA), KoDaFe: International Korean Dance Festival(NY), The Movement Project: Cleveland Dance Festival (OH), Milwaukee Fringe Festival (WI), Detroit Dance City Festival (MI), World Congress Dance Research by IDC (Greece), and The Seoul International Dance Festival in TANK (South Korea). Most recently, Sabrina serves as a company member for ConteXture Dance Detroit, a contemporary dance company under the direction of Tracey Halloran. Aside from performing, Sabrina has immersed herself in choreography this past year. Sabrina’s most recent work is a duet choreographed in collaboration with Ashlie Roth titled, To Whatever End. This work premiered in WMU Dance’s Fall Student Showcase in the fall of 2023. This work was then brought to the American College Dance Association in March where it was selected as a finalist for the 2024 Gala Concert. WMU’s touring dance company (Western Dance Project) also selected this work to be re-set on the company dancers for the 2024 season as well.
