Layla Small

Originally from Metro Detroit, Layla Small began her dance journey in ballroom and partner dancing before expanding her training to ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, hip hop, acro, and technique. She finished her senior year at Power Dance Company, where she worked and trained under talented choreographers Jayjay Dixonbey, Ryann Taylor, Christa Smutek, and Andrew Cribbett. During her time there, she attended numerous dance conventions, earned scholarships and performed in opening numbers for choreographers Molly Long, Brian Friedman, as well as Tessandra Chavez and Tricia Miranda. Layla continues her journey training with The Institute of Dancers under the direction of Glenn Douglas Packard, where got to work with guest artists like Zach Hudson, Kai Lin, Vincent Noiseux, and Teresa Stone. In addition to performing she is also very passionate about teaching and currently instructs kids ages 8-17 at The Dance Academy. Layla specializes in teaching acro, technique, stretch and flex and conditioning classes. Layla is excited to continue growing as both a performer and educator while pursuing new opportunities in the dance industry.
